There has been considerable investment placed in Using Information Communication Technology over recent years. Not only is the importance of UICT noted within the NI Curriculum but at Carr’s Glen it is our firm belief that our children need to have the skills, experience and knowledge to enhance their learning experiences and to equip them for life in a technology rich world!
Carr’s Glen has a dedicated Computer suite comprising of 23 laptops/desktops. This facility allows whole classes to undertake ICT related tasks at the one time. All of the classes have access to a laptop and PC as well as being equipped with an Interactive Whiteboards and Apple TV to be used with the teachers iPad. In addition we have 4 group sets of iPads that are rotated round the classrooms each week. The school have also recently purchased a Drone and Sphero.
We have been involved in the Dissolving Boundaries Project for several years now. This entails online communication with a school in Southern Ireland through the use of Video Conferencing, email and a dedicated online forum. In a similar vein we have participated in an Online project, entitled ‘Across the Bann,’ with a rural school in N. Ireland and our Comenius Project with several schools across Europe has a strong element of ICT.
